How to Use Steam Workshop Mods in Paralives — Subscribe, update, organise and troubleshoot Paralives Steam Workshop mods without ever touching a file.

Steam Workshop is the official, zero-setup way to add mods to Paralives. One click on Subscribe and Steam handles downloads, background updates, and uninstalls for you — no folders to find, no .zip files to extract. This guide covers everything from subscribing your first mod to fixing the most common Workshop hiccups.

Want a head start? Pick something from our curated Paralives mod list before diving in, or read our full install guide for manual mods.

What is the Paralives Steam Workshop?

The Workshop is a content hub built into Steam where creators publish mods, custom households, lots, clothing packs and gameplay tweaks for Paralives. Every Workshop item is tied to your Steam account — uninstall Paralives and your mods reappear automatically when you reinstall.

Subscribe to a mod

  1. 01Open the mod's Workshop page (from Steam, your browser, or the in-game Mods menu → Browse Mods on Steam Workshop).
  2. 02Click the green + Subscribe button. The button changes to Subscribed once Steam queues the download.
  3. 03Make sure Steam is online — Workshop downloads only happen while the Steam client is running.
  4. 04Launch Paralives. The mod appears in Main Menu → Mods, ready to be toggled on.

Manage your subscriptions

Open your Steam library, right-click Paralives → View Workshop Items → Subscribed Items. From there you can unsubscribe, rate, or jump to the creator's page. You can also sort by recently updated to spot mods that just got a patch.

Disable without unsubscribing

Troubleshooting a crash? Don't unsubscribe right away — toggle the mod OFF in Main Menu → Mods. The files stay on disk, so you can flip it back on instantly once the issue is fixed.

Forcing a Workshop update

If Steam is slow to push an update, right-click Paralives in your library → Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity of game files. This rechecks every subscribed mod and re-downloads anything outdated.

Common Workshop problems

  • Mod doesn't download: confirm Steam is online and that the Workshop item hasn't been hidden by the author.
  • Mod is missing from the in-game list: restart Paralives — Workshop items aren't hot-loaded mid-session.
  • Mod re-downloads on every launch: corrupted local files; unsubscribe, restart Steam, then subscribe again.
  • Subscribed items folder is huge: clean up unused mods from the Subscribed Items page to reclaim disk space.
