How to Update Paralives Mods — A step-by-step routine to keep Workshop and manual Paralives mods working after every Early Access patch.

Paralives is in active Early Access development, which means new patches drop regularly — and any one of them can break a mod that worked yesterday. The good news: keeping things up to date is mostly automatic, as long as you know which mods are managed by Steam and which need a manual swap.

Workshop mods (automatic)

Any mod you subscribed to via the Workshop updates automatically as soon as Steam launches. You don't need to do anything — but a few habits help:

  • Open Steam at least once before launching Paralives so pending Workshop updates can apply first.
  • If a Workshop mod still misbehaves after an update, unsubscribe → restart Steam → subscribe again to force a clean re-download.
  • Check the mod's Workshop page for a Change Notes tab to see what the latest update touched.

Manual mods (Nexus, CurseForge, Discord)

Manual mods don't update themselves. You'll need to revisit the download page whenever a new Paralives patch drops.

  1. 01Open the original download page (Nexus Mods, CurseForge, Discord, etc.) and grab the newest version.
  2. 02Close Paralives completely before swapping files.
  3. 03Open your Paralives mods folder (C:/Users/YOUR_USERNAME/AppData/LocalLow/Paralives/Mods on Windows).
  4. 04Delete the old mod folder — never leave two versions side by side.
  5. 05Drop in the new folder, keeping its internal structure intact.
  6. 06Launch Paralives and confirm the mod still appears in Main Menu → Mods.

After a Paralives patch

Before you launch the game on patch day, go through your active mod list and check each one against its mod page. If a creator hasn't marked compatibility with the new Paralives version, disable that mod from the Mods menu until an updated build ships.

What to do when a mod breaks

  • Disable the suspect mod from Main Menu → Mods and restart the game.
  • If the issue persists, see our troubleshooting guide for broken mods.
  • Roll back to a save from before the broken patch if your current save won't load.
